IAEP Care Ambulance Leaders Rally for Increased Reimbursement Rates

A group of leaders from Care Ambulance of Orange and LA Counties attended an LA County Board of Supervisors meeting last week to voice support of an increase in ambulance reimbursement rates in the county.

IAEP Local R12-370 President Ryan Walters, Vice President Jack Yandell, and members of their executive board went to the June 6 meeting along with other area Locals. The group encouraged the Board of Supervisors to continue positive discussions surrounding the potential passage of a hike in LA County ambulance reimbursement rates.

The group is seeking this increase in light of an economic crisis currently facing the EMS industry that has seen unprecedented closures, shortages, and high response times for ambulance companies. They believe that raising reimbursement rates could add much-needed revenue to the system, resulting in more resources and higher wages for members

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
